TISSUE DISTRIBUTION AND CONCENTRATION OF $sup 14$C-LABELED CYCLOPHOSPHAMIDE: A PRELIMINARY REPORT

Journal Article · · Atompraxis (West Germany) Incorporated in Kerntechnik
OSTI ID:4060320
The tissue distribution and concentration of intravenously administered / sup 14/C-labeled cyclophosphamide were studied in 10 patients. Higher concentrations were found in tumor tissue than in normal tissue. The plasma concentration is approximately 10 times that of the cellular components of the blood. Leukemic leukocytes have approximately 50% higher concentration of cyclophosphamide than do erythrocytes. The concentration of the compound within the blood is lost rapidly. Cyclophosphamide crosses the blood-brain barrier and its concentration in the spinal fluid is higher than that of blood. (auth)
