COSMIC RADIATION AND CANCER. I. INFLUENCE OF COSMIC RADIATION AT SEA LEVEL ON INDUCED CANCER

Journal Article · · Sci. Sinica (Peking)
OSTI ID:4056331
The effect of cosmic rays on methylcholanthrene-induced neoplasia in mice was studied. Cancerous mice were kept under cover of lead plates 1, 2, 5, and 10 cm thick. No shielding was provided for the cortrols. A statistical assay of expenimental data showed that mice protected by a 2-cm lead shield had a shorter latent period of tumor development than any other test group. In addition, photon-electron showers were at their maximum with 2-cm shielding. (OTS)
