Certain transition probabilities were evaluated by means of configuration methods and nuclear surface oscillations. Slected parameters C/sub 2/ approximately 1000 Mev, C/sub 3/ = 350 Mev, h omega /sub 3/ = 2.6 Mev, and h omega /sub 2/ = 5 Mev were used. Except for two transitions, E3 Pb/sup 206/ the results are in good agreement with experimental data. It is shown that the configuration is induced by the residual interaction. Configurations of hardness and frequency determine the probability of the E2 and E3 transition. (tr-auth)
