SCINTILLATION GAMMA SPECTROMETER WITH FAST NEUTRON DISCRIMINATION (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Pribory i Tekhn. Eksperim.
OSTI ID:4055459

The design and performance of a scintillation spectrometer with a stilbene monocrystal for investigating gamma spectra in the presence of fast neutrons are discussed. Reduction of the spectrometer sensitivity for neutrons is attained by a device that uses the difference in the nature of scintillations produced by electrons and protons in stilbene. The application of the spectrometer for determining relative intensities and excitation cross sections of gamma lines is discussed. The gamma spectra of carbon and oxygen bombarded by 14-Mev neutrons were determined. New lines in the carbon Spectra at 1.60, 1.84, and 2.38 Mev and lines in the oxygen spectra at 2.2 and 2.7 Mev were discovered. (trauth)
