Title: TRAPPING LEVELS AND THERMOLUMINESCENCE OF CsI DOPED WITH VARIOUS ACTIVATORS

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters

Thermoluminescence curves of pure cesium iodide and cesium iodide crystals doped with silver, indium, copper, and thallium activated with 58-kv, 6- ma x rays at 77 deg K are shown. The occurrence of the main peaks at the same temperature in all the crystals indicates that the main trapping levels are characteristic of the host lattice, regardless of the type of activation. It is hypothesized from experimental results that the first major peak is associated with the thermal release of a self-trapped hole, while the second major peak is associated with a hole-type center.
