Tidd PFBC demonstration plant summary of operations

The 70 MWe Tidd Pressurized Fluidized Bed Combustion (PFBC) Demonstration Plant in Brilliant, Ohio, the first PFBC Plant in the United States, has completed its four year demonstration program. During its operation, the plant contributed significantly to the advancement of PFBC technology and provided invaluable experience concerning both the design and operation of the system required to demonstration program and provides a summary of Tidd findings. Issues of environmental performance, bed dynamics, and equipment performance are presented. The status of PFBC as a viable and commercially economical generation technology is also discussed.
