Nye County drilled their first oversight drill hole at Yucca Mountain to demonstrate an alternative to traditional coring by utilizing Dual Wall Reverse Circulation technology. This paper summarizes the results of drilling borehole UE-25 ONC No. 1 which was designed to investigate liquid/vapor movement, pneumatic responses, fracture/matrix flow processes, obtain stratigraphic and structural data across the Bow Ridge fault zone in a cost effective and efficient manner.
