THE VIBRATING-REED ELECTROMETER AS A LOW-LEVEL /cap alpha/-DETECTOR

Design features are described of a low-level alpha counter which employs a vibrating reed electrometer as the detecting element. A sketch of the alpha chamber and a photograph of the complete chamber and electronic set-up are included. Results are presented from measurements of the pulse-height distribution of alpha particles from Sm/sup 1//sup 4//sup 7/ (C.H.)
