Journal Article · · Isotopes Radiation Technol.
OSTI ID:4050502
Studies of the radiation pasteurization of food are reviewed. Progress made in the technology necessary to extend the refrigerated shelf life of fruits and marine products by irradiation is described. A commercial process is outlined for several food items. The refrigerated sheif life of some seafoods was extended as much as fivefold. Irradiation sources are described. Wholesomeness and acceptability are discussed. (M.C.G.)
