CLUMSY I--A TIME- AND SPACE-DEPENDENT REACTOR KINETICS CODE FOR THE IBM- 7090 COMPUTER

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4049338

A reactor kinetics code, CLUMSY I, which will solve for the neutron flux and associated parameters of interest (such as fuel and coolant temperatures) as a function of time and space has been programmed for the IBM-7090 digital computer. The spatial dependence is limited to one dimension, x, y, or z for cartesian coordinates, and r for cylindrical coordinates. The calculation of the neutron flux level includes the effect of the delayed neutrons and the reactivity effects of fuel and coolant temperature changes. Provisions have been made in the program so that arbitrary space and time dependent reactivity changes (such as the safety system insertion) can be specified, in tabular form, in the input data. The heat transfer model assumed is exceedingly simple, and no allowance has been made for the calculation of temperatures under conditions of two-phase coolant flow. (auth)
