QUADRUPOLE MOMENT OF Li$sup 7$ AND QUADRUPOLE COUPLING CONSTANT OF Li$sub 2$

The quadrupole moment (Q) of Li/sup 7/ in LiH is calculated from the quadrupole coupling constant (q) and the electric field gradient at the Li/sup 7/ nucleus. Using this value of Q, the quadrupole coupling constant of Li/sub 2/ is calculated. The calculations yield Q = +3.56 - 10/sup -//sup 2//sup 6/ cm/sup 2/ , and q = -0.049 Mc. (T.F.H.)
