EXCITATION FUNCTIONS OF THE (p,pn) AND (p,2p) REACTIONS ON Ce$sup 142$ AT 60-233 MEV

The cross sections of the reactions Ce/sup 1//sup 4//sup 2/(p,pn)Ce/sup 1//sup 4//sup 1/ and Ce/sup 1//sup 4//sup 2/(p,2p)La/sup 1//sup 4//sup 1/ are determined at 60, 120, 180, 200, an d 233 Mev. A comparison is made of the observed yields with those predicted on the basis of Monte Carlo cascadeevsporation calculations at 83, 238, and 368 Mev. For protons of energy between 60 and 240 Mev the agreement is better for the (p,pn) reaction thsn for the (p,2p) reaction. (auth)
