X rays were directed to the liver region of albino rats. The distribution of vitamin B/sub 2/ in the liver, kidney, intestine, heart, spleen, and blood was investigated 6, 12, 18, and 24 hr after the irradiation. Total vitamin B/sub 2/ increased in these organs except in the blood; flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and free riboflavin (FR) increased without exception, and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) decreased except in the spleen, that is, abnormal distribution of vitamin B/sub 2/ fractions was significant except in the spleen. Successive estimations of the fractions suggest that the metabolic disturbances by irradiation occur in the reaction FMN - FAD initially, then in FR - FMN and FR - FAD. (Absts. Japan.
