Evaluation of different locations of thermal storage in solar drying system
- National Research Centre, Cairo (Egypt)
A simple, easily built forced convection solar drying system consisting of a solar air heater, a drying chamber, and thermal storage was constructed and tested. A new simple pebble bed storage box, with a special easy form was designed to be heated with direct solar energy, or heated air, or both. Drying system performance was studied for different locations of the storage box with regard to the drying chamber during 24 hours of operation. The performance of the drying system with the best location was studied under different operating conditions.
