ANISOTROPIC ELASTIC SCATTERING OF NEUTRONS IN CARBON AND OXYGEN

A distribution function for the cosine of the scattering angle in the center-of-mass system was developed. The result was applied to treating anisotropic elastic scattering in carbon and oxygen for Monte Carlo slowing down prcblems. The distribution function was related to the elastic scattering coefficients, which were obtained from a Legendre Polynomial expansion of the elastic scattering cross section. The energy ranges investigated were 0.330 to 10.4 Mev for carbon and 0.29a tc 10.4 Mev for oxygen. (auth)
