Title: Collective states in $sup 233$U, $sup 235$U, $sup 237$Np, and $sup 239$Pu excited by inelastic deuteron scattering

Energy spectra of inelastically scattered 16-MeV deuterons were measured at angles of 90degree and 125degree using enriched targets of $sup 233$U, $sup 235$U, $sup 237$Np, and $sup 239$Pu. The octupole band resulting from the ground- state coupling to the K/sup pi/=0$sup -$ octupole vibration of the core is identified in $sup 233$U, $sup 237$Np, and $sup 239$Pu and is tentatively assigned in $sup 235$U. Evidence for the observation of ground-state coupling to the higher lying octupole bands is discussed for $sup 233$U, $sup 237$Np, and $sup 239$Pu. Comparison is made of the core vibrations of the odd-A nucleus with those observed in the adjacent even-even nuclei. The K-2 and K+2 $gamma$ bands built on the ground state of $sup 235$U are seen.
