SURFACE STRUCTURE OF IONICALLY BOMBARDED COPPER SINGLE CRYSTALS
led structure that was depended on the incidence angle of the penetration depth the structure could be explained on the basis of two competing mechanisms; one favoring the defavoring the development of (110) surfaces. Qualitatively different behavior was found when the ion beam was directed at 45 deg to the surface (corresponding to a STA110! crystal direction). This difference was attributed to the large increase in mean penetration depth for this incidence angle. (auth)
