Thorium tetrafluoride hydrate crystals, prepared by precipitation from thorium salts by hydrofluoric acid, were studied by x-ray, thermographic, refractometric, and spectrometric methods. It was shown that the water in the thorium tetrafluoride crystal hydrate structure is bound to fluorine atoms by hydrogen bonding. (R.V.J.)
