THE COMPOSITION AND STRUCTURE OF TECHNETIUM NITRIDE AND TECHNETIUM BORIDES

Journal Article · · J. Less-Common Metals
Analysis of Tc heated in nitrogen in the temperature range 400 -900 deg C revealed no change in the lattice constants of the metal. When heated in ammonia in the range 7001100 deg C, lattice constants increased to an extent depending on the amount of nitrogen absorbed. At 900 --1100 deg C a new fcc phase was detected with a lattice constant varying from 3.980 to 3.985 A, according to nitrogen content. Tc--B alloys were prepared by mixing powdered Tc and powdered crystalline B (99%) pressing into pellets, and sintering in vacuo at 1100 -1200 deg C for 120 -200 hr. Data are given for Tc/sub 3/B, Tc/sub 7/B/sub 3/, and TcB/sub 2/. (P.C.H.)
