A seal welded flanged joint is designed which can be opened as often as necessary. In this joint, each flange has a recess formed adjacent to the place where the seal weld is to be made so that the recesses of both flanges form a channel into which a U-section removable member is placed. A seal weld is then formed between an outer penipheral face of each leg of the U-section member and the channel side. (D.L. C.)
