This paper presents an efficient computational implementation for integrity analysis of offshore frame structures on distributed memory parallel computers. The implementation uses an automatic FEM domain decomposition and a sparse multifrontal method for large scale computing. An incremental-iterative algorithm for the ultimate strength of the structure is used, taking into account an elastic-plastic analysis with strain-hardening and large displacement effects. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of this strategy on the Intel iPSC/860 supercomputer.
