A STUDY OF SOME (t,p) REACTIONS. III. RESULTS FOR Mg$sup 26$, Si$sup 28$, Si$sup 29$, Ca$sup 40$ AND Cd$sup 11$$sup 0$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
Targets containing /sup 26/Mg/, /sup 28/Si, /sup 29/Si, /sup 40/Ca, and / sup 1 10/Cd were bombarded with tritons of about 10 Mev. In many cases excellent agreement was obtained between the measured proton angular distributions from the (t,p) reactions and the predictions of plane-wave double-stripping theory. The / sup 26/Mg(t,p)/sup 28/Mg reaction provided unambiguous determinations of the spins and parities of a number of states in /sup 28/Mg that were previously unknown. Spin-parity assignments from the reactions /sup 28/Si(t,p)/sup 30/Si, / sup 29/Si(t,p)/sup 31/Si, a nd /sup 40/Ca(t,p)/sup 42/Ca are in good agreement with earlier measurements. In the case of the /sup 110/Cd(t,p)/sup 112/Cd reaction, an intense ground state transition was observed with relatively weak transitions to excited states. This may indicate the presence of an enhancement effect of the type suggested by Yoshida. (auth)
