DESIGN OF TWO PERMANENT-MAGNET-ROTOR PUMPS FOR LIQUID METAL

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4030044

A mathematical investigation of permanent magnet rotor pumps for liquid metals was made and recommendations for pump dimensions are made. A pump was designed for sodium for 6 gallons per minute at 1000 deg F at 3 psi internal pumping pressure and for lithium for 3 gallons per minute at 1000 deg F at 1 psi internal pumping pressure. Two-pole permanent magnet rotors are recommended. (R.E.U.)
