The boundary element method, which is applicable to calculating the electropotential distribution on the surface of the cathodically protected metal pipelines under sea floor, is presented. The triangular, rectangular and pipe elements and their subelements are developed, and the coupled problem of different media is solved. Several numerical and experimental examples are presented. Good agreement between experiment and computation is obtained.
