Two phase pipeline design and practice in JZ20-2 offshore gas field development

The first two phase flow submarine pipeline in China sea of 12 in. and 51 km long was designed, installed and operated in early summer 1993 after careful study. The practice shows that the slug catcher is one of the key factors in two phase flow pipeline design. It gives a lot of enlightenments and inspirations, the main points are: defining liquid hold up attentively; meticulously design configuration, downstream separator necessity, reasonable design allowance of handling capacity, operation experience and pigging period, varied slug catcher forms.
