CAUSALITY AND THE LORENTZ GROUP

A definition of causality, differert from the one currently employed in field theory, is introduced; its relations to the Lorentz group and to relativity theory are clarified. This causality leads to a reduction of the S-matrix of dispersion theory that is not subject to some limitations previously encountered. The mathematical constructions appearing in the course of this reduction are discussed. (auth)
