A heavy water power reactor is designed which does not require fuel enrichment or an internal calandria with sealed joints, and requires a smaller pressure vessel for a given power capacity. In this reactor, the fuel elements are located in a tube calandria in liquid heavy water moderator, and part of the moderator is boiled to form steam which is passed through the tubes to form superheated steam, which in turn is passed to a heat exchanger.
