SPIN WAVES IN MnF$sub 2$ AND THE INELASTIC SCATTERING OF NEUTRONS

The spin wave dispersion relation in the case of MnF/sub 2/ is studied for various assumed values of the ratio of the exchange coupling constants J/sub 2/ to J/sub 1/. The inelastic scattering cross section of neutrons by spin waves in this crystal is also calculated. Using the value of J/sub 2/ = 1.08J/sub 1/, which is supported experimentally, distinctive features of the scattering cross section are discussed. (auth)
