THE CONTENT OF $sup 125$Sb IN SOIL COVER AND IN PLANTS (in Russian)
The most important long-lived fission products are up 90/Y, /sup 106/Ru-/ sup 106/Rh, /sup 147/Pm, and /sup 125/Sb. The relative yields of these fission products are listed for the fission of /sup 235/U, /sup 238/U, and /sup 239/Pu by thermal and fast neutrons. Since /sup 125/Sb is ordinarily not determined, samples of soil and plant ash were analyzed on a 100-channel gamma spectrometer in 1959 and again in 1961. Due to the long time lapse of two years, it was determined that the 430 and 460 kev peaks belonged to /sup 125/Sb, which has a half life of 2.7 years (the half life of the isotope had to be longer than that of /sup 144/Ce or /sup 106/Ru). The relative activity of /sup 125/Sb was determined from the area of the photopeak, and was compared with the relative activities of /sup 144/Ce--/sup 144/Pr, /sup 106/Ru--/sup 106/ Rh, and /sup 137/ Cs. The results were tabulated. The activity level of /sup 125/Sb is comparable to the activity level of /sup 106/Ru--/sup 106/Rh in the soil. (TTT)
