BURST SLUG DETECTION IN THE AGR

Journal Article · · Nuclear Power
OSTI ID:4025047

The hurst slug detection system for the Windscale Advanced Gas Cooled Reactor is described. Since there are 253 fuel channels in the reactor, monitors are grouped in a 16 x 16 matrix to reduce their number. The system is set up so that the precipitators continuously monitor the channels and the position of a burst is shown by lights on a panel repllca of the cors. The cnrtrols of the system provide variation in count and soak times and indicate any faults in the system. The equipment used is also discussed. (N.W.R.)
