THE ELECTRON CAPTURE RATIO IN THE DECAY OF I$sup 12$$sup 5$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B

The ratio of captures from L- and higher atomic shells to K-electron capture of I/sup 125/ was determined to be 0.2543 plus or minus 0.0027. The I/ sup 125/ source was a constituent of the NaI-lattice in NaI(Tl) scintillation crystals. A mass difference of (148.9 plus or minus 1) kev between the I/sup 125/ and Te/sup 125/ ground states was calculated from the obtained capture ratio. The measured decay curve of /sup 125/I yields a half life of (60.25 plus or minus 0.06) days. (auth)
