ENERGY LEVELS FROM (p,p'), (d,p) AND (d, $alpha$) REACTIONS ON THE STABLE ISOTOPES BETWEEN Sc$sup 45$ AND Ni$sup 5$$sup 8$

Isotope separated targets of all the stable nuclei between /sup 45/Sc and /sup 58/Ni were bombarded with protons and deuterons of energies between 3 and 4.3 Mev. The protons, deuterons, and alpha particles from the reactions were recorded in a heavy particle spectrograph. The Q values and excitation energies were determined. The cross sections observed in the (p,p'), (d,p), and (d, alpha ) reactions yield informntion on the reaction mechanisms involved, and from the (d,p) intensities a number of p/sup 3/2/ states are suggested. The main trends of the nuclear level schemes are discussed qualitatively on the basis of the shell model with residual interactions. (auth)
