Thermochemistry of uranium compounds. V. Standard enthalpies of formation of the monouranates of lithium, potassium, and rubidium

Journal Article · · J. Chem. Thermodyn., v. 6, pp. 1161-1169
Enthalpies of reaction, $delta$H/sub r/, of the monouranates of lithium, potassium, and rubidium with 1 mol dm$sup -3$ HCl were measured calorimetrically as --(41.77 +- 0.02), --(42.07 +-- 0.05), and --(41.30 +- 0.05) kcal/sub th//mol, respectively. From these measurements, and auxiliary determinations of the enthalpies of solution in acid of the chlorides of lithium, potassium, and rubidium and of uranyl chloride, the standard enthalpies of formation of the uranates, $delta$$H$$sup 0$/sub f/, have been derived as --(463.31 +- 0.84), -- (451.39) +- 0.83), and --(452.00 +-- 0.85) kcal/sub th//mol for $alpha$--Li$sub 2$UO$sub 4$, K$sub 2$UO$sub 4$, and Rb$sub 2$UO$sub 4$, respectively. The values of $delta$H/sub r/ and $delta$$H$$sup 0$/sub f/ differ significantly from those of the only previous study. (auth)
