THE HARTREE PERTURBATION METHOD FOR HELIUM

Journal Article · · Proc. Phys. Soc. (London)
The Hartree perturbation method is used to calculate the dipole polarizability ( alpha /sub d/), the electric field at the nucleus, the quadrupole polarizability ( alpha /sub q/) and the nuclear shielding factor of He using a 12-term representation of the unperturbed Hartree wave functions. The method yielde lower bounds for alpha /sub d/ and alpha /sub q/, The absolute error in the predicted values of any of the quantities is less than 4,3%, (auth)
