The angular divergence of amplified spontaneous emission was studied as a function of the gain of the active sample within the framework of linear equations of radiation transfer. The influence of spatial inhomogeneity of the gain and Fresnel reflection from the polished faces of the sample was also studied. The conditions of narrowing of angular divergence along directions with maximum gain at high amplifications and in inhomogeneous pumping were determined, and a significant increase in angular divergence allowing for reflections from the polished faces was found.
