{sup 12}C+{sup 12}C and {sup 16}O+{sup 8}Be decay of {sup 24}Mg states populated in the {sup 12}C({sup 20}Ne,{sup 24}Mg{sup *}){sup 8}Be reaction

The {sup 12}C+{sup 12}C and {sup 8}Be+{sup 16}O decay of {sup 24}Mg states populated in the {sup 12}C({sup 20}Ne,{sup 24}Mg{sup *}) reaction has been studied at beam energies of 160 and 110 MeV. Evidence for excited states, which decay by {sup 12}C and {sup 8}Be emission, is observed for the excitation energy range 22 to 33 MeV. Angular correlation analysis shows that the spins of these states lie in the range of 6 to 12{Dirac_h}. These measurements further indicate that the breakup states possess a 4p-4h structure.
