SOME COMPLEXES OF TERTIARY PHOSPHINES WITH RUTHENIUM(II) AND OSMIUM(II)

The reactions of RuCl/sub 3/ and (NH/sub 4/)/sub 2/OsCl/sub 6/ with a variety of mono- and ditertiary phosphines are described. The properties, reactions, and structures of the resulting complexes, STAM/sub 2/Cl/sub 3/(PR/sub 3/)/sub 6/!Cl (M = Ru or Os; PR/sub 3/ = PMe/sub 2/Ph, PEt/sub 2/Ph, PMePh/sub 2/ , or PEtPh/sub 2/), and cis- and trans-STAMX/sub 2/(chelate)/sub 2/! STAchelate = C/sub 2/H/sub 4/(PR/sub 2/)/sub 2/ (R = Me, Et, or Ph), CH/sub 2/(PPh/sub 2/)/sub 2/ i, and o-C/sub 6/H/sub 4/(PEt/sub 2/)/sub 2/; X = halogen, SCN!, are discussed. (auth)
