PREPARATION OF MOLYBDENUM TRISULFIDE FROM INDUSTRIAL FERROMOLYBDENUM DUST (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Tsvetn. Metal.
OSTI ID:4019775

Hydrometallurgical treatment of Mo dust resulting in molybdenum trisulfide was studied with dust containing 1l.3% Mo, 4.44% Bi, 18.4% Pb, 20% Zn, 0.33% Cu, 4.88% Fe, 0.58% S, and 13.0% SiO/sub 2/. The best results were achieved by leaching with sodium sulfide. In high sodium sulfide concentration (86.4 g/1) the extraction of Mo reaches 86.0%. Precipitation of molybdenum trisulfide as a function of the pH of the solution was studied. It was found that the most complete Mo precipitation was achieved at a pH of 3.0 to 1.5. (R.V.J.)
