STUDIES OF SURFACE SORPTION IN GAS-GRAPHITE SYSTEMS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4019488
Sorption of CO/sub 2/, CO, and O/sub 2/ by clean graphite surfaces was studied. The effects of temperature, flow rate, and graphite impurities and/or surface area on the adsorption nate were determined. Apparent activation energies are approximately -50 cal/mole, indicating physical adsorption. A maximum value of 1.4 x 10/sup 11/ chemisorbed sites per gram graphite is proposed. (D.L.C.)
