Kansas City Power and Light Company uses company personnel in central groups to perform engineering and major maintenance projects. Reliability Engineering is one or these groups. We are responsible for outage inspections, engineering evaluations, and repair/replace recommendations on the boilers, turbine generators, and major electrical equipment. To help accomplish this responsibility, a computerized outage reporting system was developed and is currently in use. This paper explains why the system was needed, how the system was developed, and how the system works.
