The cross section for the inclusive process $pi$$sup -$p $Yields$ $pi$$sup 0$ + anything in the region x/sub pi/0 approximately-greater-than 0.7 is predicted, using a triple-Regge model with absorption corrections. Absorption is calculated by a generalization of Regge-cut theory in two-body reactions, and is consistent with data on $pi$$sup -$p $Yields$ $pi$$sup 0$n. It is concluded that measurement of $pi$$sup -$p $Yields$ $pi$$sup 0$X at laboratory energies > 100 GeV will yield important new information on the strength of absorptive effects in strong interactions. In particular, it is predicted that the effective rho trajectory in $pi$$sup -$p $Yields$ $pi$$sup 0$X will lie higher than in $pi$$sup -$p $Yields$ $pi$$sup 0$n by approx. 0.3, for -t approximately- greater-than 0.8 GeV$sup 2$ and x approx. 1. The cross section will show no dip structure at -t approx. = 0.6 GeV$sup 2$ or elsewhere, contrary to the predictions of model with nonsense-wrong signature zero. (AIP)
