Studies on the contamnination of milk with /sup 90/Sr, /sup 137/Cs, and / sup 131/I carried out in the Germnan Federal Republic fromn Septemnber 1961 to Septemnber 1962 are described. It was found that /sup 90/Sr and /sup 137/Cs did not reach the maximum tolerance, whereas /sup 131/I exceeded it during a short period of time. It was also found that gamma spectrometry measurements of /sup 137/Cs, which may be completed in a few hours, allow the /sup 90/Sr content in milk to be estimated with sufficient accuracy. (auth)
