A process is given for the electrolytic production of beryllium. The process comprises heating BeOH in a fluidized bed to convert it into HeOH, mixing the BeOH with C, compacting the BeO + C into pellets, chlorinating the pellets to form BeCl/sub 2/ vapor, passing the BeCl/sub 2/ vapor into depleted anhydrous BeCl/sub 2/-- NaCl melt, and electrolyzing the replenished melt.
