Effect of deorientation in recoil-distance lifetime measurements

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C, v. 13, no. 3, pp. 1217-1225
The influence of hyperfine deorientation in recoil-distance Doppler shift measurements was studied for high spin states in $sup 38$Ar, $sup 40$K, $sup 41$K, and $sup 41$Ca having lifetimes in the range between 30 ps and 10 ns. At a recoil velocity of v/c=0.02, deorientation in vacuo was found to be negligible for lifetimes up to several ns. (AIP)
