Title: APPROXIMATE RELATIVISTIC EQUATIONS OF MOTION FOR AN EXTENDED CHARGED PARTICLE IN AN INHOMOGENEOUS EXTERNAL ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD

Classical expressions for the external force and torque in the mass-of- center frame including first-order terms in the electromagnetic field are given. Electric and magnetic dipole momentum vectors are introduced. A relativistic generalization of the classical procedure is performed, using a projection tensor that separates out the proper space part of four-vectors and four-tensors. A covariant electromagnetic moment tensor is introduced. In the case of no electric moment in the proper mass-ofcenter frame, the electromagnetic moment tensor is substituted by a magnetic momert pseudovector. (auth)
