Scintillation light yields of organic molecular crystals for alpha particles and electrons (in German)

Accurate pulse-height ratios for α-particle and electron excitations were determined for single crystals of anthracene, naphthalene, terphenyl, diphenyl, diphenylene oxide, fluorene, stilbene, and plastic scintillator. The α/β -ratios were strongly dependent on the impact direction of the alpha particles with respect to the crystal axes because of the anisotropic light yield for alpha particles.
