THE DEAMINATION AND REARRANGEMENT OF ERYTHRO-1-AMINO-1-PHENYL-2-O-TOLYL-2- PROPANOL (THESIS)

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4009838· OSTI ID:4009838
An investigation was carried out on the nitrous acid deamination of one enantiomer of erytho-1-amino-1-phenyl2-o-tolyl-2-propanol. The results are compared with those for the corresponding threo aminoalcohol, and a reaction mechanism is postulated on the basis of an open carbonium ion, with a minimum of rotation about the C --C bond.
