The paper is concerned with the analysis of current data from field measurements in areas characterized by uneven seabeds. The current data were collected as part of the MULTISPAN project launched in order to provide information for the design of free spanning pipelines, especially as regards in-line oscillations. The objective is through the analysis of such data to describe in-field flow characteristics concerning turbulence and to establish a correspondence between flow characteristics over irregular seabeds and corresponding flow characteristics established through idealized parametric models. As in-line oscillations of free spanning pipelines reach full amplitude after about one minute, emphasis is put on the analysis of one minute current velocity time series looking for variations both in mean current and turbulence intensity.
