NUCLEAR LEVELS OF $sup 199$Au

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
The low energy level scheme of /sup 199/Au as observed in the decay of 30 min. activity of /sup 199/Pt was studied using an intermediate-image beta spectrometer and scintillation coincidence spectrometers in conjunction with a 512-channel analyzer. Four beta groups with end-point energies at 1690 plus or minus 50, 1370, 1150, and 900 kev were identified. The gamma rays of energies 75, 197, 245, 320, 475, 540, 715, 790, and 960 kev were observed in the scintillation spectrum. To explain the various BETA - gamma , gamma - BETA , and gamma - gamma coincidence and their relative intensities, levels at 75, 320, 475, 540, of /sup 199/Au shows a close similarity with those of neighboring odd-mass gold nuclei. An isomeric state at about 475 kev was identified, also suggesting a possible existence of the h/sup 11/2/ state in the /sup 199/Au nucleus. (auth)
