The stellarator relates generally to reactors and more particularly to methods of and apparatas for producing and controlling thermonuclear reactions, absorbing the energy released thereby, and capturing nuclear particles radiated in such reactions. The stellarator is comprised of a continuous tube having reactants therein and having at least one diverter section. It has means for ohmically heating the reactions to an intermediate temperature, for heating and ionizing the reactants to thermonuclear temperatures, for confining the reactants to a central axial portion, and for removing the reactant and reacted particlesapproaching the walls of the tube.
